THE Wollondilly Shire Council Mayor's Wednesday meeting with the Roads and Traffic Authority opened the lines of communication between the two parties on Picton Rd, but failed to produce any promise of upgrades. Mayor Judy Hannan met with five senior managers from the Wollongong Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA), including technical and road safety experts.

"They have the working party happening looking at all kinds of things on the road - the curves, the pavement improvements, any barriers or treatments they can do - but they can't promise to do anything, but at least they are looking at it," she said.

Councillor Hannan said she also expected an imminent announcement from the authority on the reclassification of regional roads within Wollondilly shire.

This would mean the authority would take over some of the responsibility for busy thoroughfares, such as Silverdale Rd.

"We will continue to be meeting with them regularly about the issue," Cr Hannan said.
